Is the style of Motown music the same style as soul music? It pretty much sounds like the same as soul music and I was wondering if the Motown connotation means the same as soul music and why they just don’t call them the same thing.
Answer:
Motown music actually originates from a record label sound is actually a lot different than soul music. It originates from the artists of the Motown label it’s self and introduces more of a pop music style into soul music. It is one of the most influential sounds of music from the 1950s to the 1960s. And if you remember correctly this was when a lot of the race issues were occurring in the United States because slavery was a bit before this in time.
When people think of Motown they think of more of a pop style like the cantations and Stevie wonder and such and if you think about soul music there is going to be a lot different artists that come to mind. So to answer your question I would say it’s easily I know that they are not the same in any way. But instead I would say that Motown does involve soul music but it also has involvement of pop music.
